Traditional Nursing Route
For students who pursue the traditional route, nursing is usually their first degree. These students already have plans on becoming a nurse during high school, and so they directly enter a 4 year nursing program upon receiving their high school diploma. However, these programs are still open to applicants who already hold a bachelors in a non-nursing field.

Accelerated Bachelors in NursingAlso known as ABSN, this option is for individuals who want to pursue nursing that already hold a bachelors degree outside the nursing field. This is an ideal option for students at Cal. Since Cal, doesn't have a nursing program, students can fulfill nursing prerequisites for nursing school as well as requirements for their first non-nursing major. These programs generally take 1 - 2 years to complete and students will graduate with a Bachelors in Nursing.

Entry Level Masters in Nursing
Also called MEPN or ELMNS, this program is ideal for Cal students who only want to work as advanced nurses. This is a graduate program that is designed for those who have already earned a baccalaureate in a non-nursing field and seek to shift careers or pursue a new academic goal so a high level of maturity is expected. The length of these programs are usually 3 - 4 years since you will graduate with a Masters in Nursing.
